Not long ago I read a post at Minute with the Marketing Maven that addressed the question of whether or not executives should represent their organizations when Tweeting. You can find the full post here, but its author, Heather Reid, presented some fairly convincing statistics from Brandfog’s 2012 CEO Social Media and Leadership Survey in favor of C-level leaders driving a Twitter account:

  • When asked what benefits C-Suite engagement in social media can lead to, 78% cited Better Communication and 71% stated improved Brand Image as the biggest positive benefits.
  • 82% of respondents were more likely or much more likely to trust a company whose CEO and leadership team engage with social media.
  • 77% of respondents were more likely

Choosing the Right Homepage Metrics

MarketingSherpa.com Chart of the Week

What you’re seeing above are the overall responses when 2,673 optimization experts were asked what key homepage metric they tested. The results, as you can see above, are fairly diverse. You can read the complete article here, but the key findings bring a fairly interesting question front and center – when it comes to KPIs, are you identifying and measuring the right metrics?

Interviewed in a previous post from MarketingSherpa, Boris Grinkot, Associate Director of Product Development for MECLABS and the author the Landing Page Optimization Benchmark Report, had this to say:

Boris Grinkot: Measurement on the homepage is complicated because so many things typically happen between it and the conversion step. The general point is that when looking …

Content Might be King, But Quality Rules All

You’ve heard it before – almost certainly many, many times, in fact – “Content is King.” But between new products, tradeshows, promotions, nurture programs, and countless other campaigns, the sheer volume of needed new and relevant content can be overwhelming. Where to start?

Certainly, repurposing is critical. An interview or a webinar can be a blog post (or a series of posts). A blog post then translates into tweets and other social updates. All of it can be compiled into whitepapers or briefs. Decks can go to SlideShare. Data can be morphed into Infographics. Countless possibilities that go on and on, in other words.

But there’s a danger in this (sometimes maniacal) drive for new content that I’ve been thinking …

The Care and Feeding of Your Marketing Automation Engine

Not long ago I found a piece of research from Forrester regarding marketing automation best practices and one nugget caught my attention. Consider the following:

“Marketing leaders typically don’t appreciate that automation makes them a database marketing business, and database marketing requires a continuous effort to run campaigns and maintain an accurate, robust marketing database.

The research goes on to say that while establishing a full-time resource to manage sales force automation (SFA) systems and data is standard practice, most organizations simply don’t think of marketing automation in the same way.

While your marketing automation system can be as basic or complex as your needs require, these tools provide a massive amount of options and functionality you can leverage …
